“Never Give Up, Ever!”
While driving with Cameron yesterday, we saw a truck pulling a four-wheeler on a trailer. Now I’m not sure exactly why he said this, I think it’s because I’ve told my boys over and over that motorcycles and that kind of thing are dangerous, but he looks at me in the rear view mirror with a concerned look on his face and says:
“That guy has a boo boo on him. When I grow up all-dust (I’ll just) be a doctor and put band aids on his head.”
Cameron, in all his three years, has always been very aware of people’s boo boos. He notices right away when any of us has a scratch or a band aid on. Like all boys do, at least all of mine, Cam likes to make guns out of just about anything. So to encourage his man hood but still make him understand that violence is not ok, I tell him not to “shoot” brothers or Mommys or Daddys, only bad guys and mean snakes.
Well, after our drive, he came home and told his brothers that he was making a “band aid shooter” out of his blocks and that they needed be on his “doctor team”. He spent the rest of the day shooting band aids on all of us and invisible people’s boo boos.
Whether he actually becomes a doctor or not, just having him show compassion towards his fellow humans is all I need, to be absolutely proud of my three year old.
