A Young Man

birthday

I am now officially the Mother of a twelve year old! Our Liam, all 5’ 7” 113 pounds of him, trying to navigate the path of getting older. Having more and working for more. Holding him in my arms today, means just as much as when I held him for the first time. The way he looked at me for comfort, thankfully he still does. I owe him for plowing the way to my mothering instincts I didn’t know I had. Liam helped start our family and amazingly enough chose James and I to be his parents. To love him and guide him into the race of life. To show him how to be human and aware of others.

On one hand I am so excited to see my boys become men, and on the other I am so sad to see them taking more and more steps away from me. My hopes for them number in the thousands, but to be able to take care of oneself is key. It’s not enough for them to just be “happy”, but to be generous, kind, fulfilled, inspired, hard working, thankful, open minded, talented, loved, devoted and hopeful. These are my dreams for my babies. Liam’s strong will and feisty attitude can help him throughout his life, the trick he has to learn, is to control it, use it for good instead of evil. Whatever I did to deserve to be a Mom, I’m so thankful I did it!
